Dementia Australia (DA) is the national peak body and source of trusted information, education and services for the estimated half a million Australians living with dementia, and the almost 1.6 million people involved in their care. Dementia Australia advocates for positive change and support vital research.  DA is here to support people impacted by dementia, and to enable them to live as well as possible.

DA provides a number of education and support programs virtually and has been at the forefront of developing digital aids for those providing care to people living with dementia.

To support these important works the Digital Engagement Manager works across the organisation to enable the Digital Engagement Strategy to deliver on brand promise and support Dementia Australia’s strategic direction. You will also be responsible for managing the website environment, and strengthening DA’s online presence including developing a digital strategy, managing external providers, assessing and making recommendations on technology and supporting Dementia Australia’s many digital platforms that engage with their external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience at both the strategic and operations level managing the backend of digital engagement, have a full understanding of current and emerging technologies and any legislative impacts that may be relevant as well as well developed people leadership skills. Your ability to work collaboratively across an organisation and provide digital expertise is essential.

You will have relevant tertiary qualification, have 3+ years’ experience in a similar role delivering digital engagement strategies.

Working for a multinational manufacturer, you will report into the Operations Director and responsible for delivering superior outcomes that demonstrate continuous improvements in processes and principles, cost savings and have a positive financial impact across multiple Australian operations.

Recognised as a change agent, you will be confident in conducting analysis and diagnostics that result in eliminating waste, simplifying processes and improving the customer experience. You will be a strong communicator and able to influence senior divisional leaders, peers and broader operational team members in operational excellence tools and methodologies in addition to Lean and Six Sigma principles across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and communicate the Operational Excellence vision that delivers competitive business advantage whilst building a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Promote Lean and Six Sigma methodology across all sites.
  • Drive development of standard processes and track relevant project KPIs, project progress. Identify and implement continuous improvement activities and cost saving initiatives to meet bottom-line and financial targets.
  • Implement standardised project management processes, tools and disciplines to facilitate project planning, risk management, tracking, status reporting, and communication.
  • Lead or guide Project Managers involved in CAPEX or project improvements for each site Update Executive Leadership Team on status and results of operational excellence initiatives.
  • Conduct post project reviews to demonstrate continuous improvement savings and on-going CI processes.

What skills and experience will you need:

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma, Lean Process Engineering and other operational excellence tools and methodologies.
  • Leadership of Operational Excellence programs.
  • Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated project leadership/management experience.
  • Proven experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Technical Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, advanced degree preferred.
  • Six sigma project leadership/participation

Having successfully disrupted the Digital Printing and Packaging industry in the U.S.A and the UK, this innovative producer of flexible packaging, lamination and digital printing products has arrived in Australia to address the quick turnaround, flexible packing market.
 
Australia is seeing a huge growth in SMEs producing a range of food products requiring small batch, quick turnaround packaging solutions. Our client has harnessed the full power of digital technology, to deliver customers exceptional on shelf presence in uber quick timeframes hence making their customers nimble, competitive and multi-channel ready. This is a greenfield opportunity to set your operations up without encumbrances of existing old plant or equipment.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will oversees the management of all areas of manufacturing and the supply chain to produce and deliver products on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. This will include:

  • planning,
  • production,
  • plant services (maintenance and facilities),
  • warehousing,
  • logistics

As part of the leadership team, you will participate in annual strategic planning and budgeting processes to develop plans in support of business development and global corporate initiatives. This will include setting a strategic direction for lean manufacturing and engineering support for all manufacturing facilities. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Develops manufacturing plans and establishes procedures to achieve and maintain high standards of manufacturing processes that meet customer needs.
  • Formulates and recommends policies and programs that improve your competitive position and profitability of the operation.
  • Directs, monitors and coaches production managers in press, pouching, lamination, and slitting to accomplish organisational goals
  • Leads communications for intra and inter departmental plans, forecasts and results.
  • Hires, trains and develops new hires according to organisational structure and manages to achieve high performance.
  • Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs to maintain organizational competitiveness is the marketplace.
  • Manages financial budgets for Operations

Because of the start-up nature of the organisation, this position will suit individuals who can utilise their broader experience and skill set to assist other departments as the organisation grows and develops.

  • You are an excellent communicator, problem solver, coach and developer of teams.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of process manufacturing operations and packaging operations with exposure to contract manufacturing .
  • You have set up and used Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs).
  • Have strong organisational skills.
  • Effective business judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to travel as necessary.
  • Experience in leading multi-site manufacturing is preferred, packaging experience ideal.
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline
