Stephen Gough has worked in the sporting club environment for over 30 years. As former CEO of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) and working closely with a Board of Directors, Stephen provided leadership to one of the world's largest sporting clubs and oversaw significant and large scale construction projects at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of Australia's most iconic venues. As CEO of the MCC and Carlton Football Club, Stephen has been involved in player management, contracting of major supply agreements, media relations, government liaison and negotiation and the management of large permanent and casual workforces. Now at TRANSEARCH International Australia, Stephen's role involves relationship management and business development with clients in the public and private sectors.
Stephen has had a long period of connection within the professional sporting environment, including international cricket and Australian Rules Football. He joined the MCC as CEO in 1999 after seven years as Carlton Football Club CEO, part of an 18-year association with the club after an earlier career as a teacher.
During his time at the MCC, Stephen had responsibility for a $460M redevelopment of the MCG as Project Director prior to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Other key achievements were securing the management of Yarra Park, implementing a master plan that has drastically improved the park amenity, and renegotiating key venue agreements with the AFL and Cricket Australia, guaranteeing long-term event content at the MCG for decades to come.

Stephen is interested in sports generally, as well as travel and reading. He is a Life Member of both the Carlton FC and the Marylebone Cricket Club (Lords). Stephen was honoured to receive an Order of Australia award (AM) in 2018.
