APS aim to be the leading Australian professional psychology organisation – dedicated to advancing the discipline and profession of psychology in the communities they serve, for the benefit of all Australians.

Working collaboratively with your colleagues, you will research, analyse and respond to government policy ensuring the profession is well represented and the goals and strategy of the Society promoted. You will also be proactive in identifying trends that impact the profession including areas for development.

Ideally, you will have experience as a practising Psychologist supported by time working in a policy role in consulting, community health and/or industry and government. You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working in cross functional teams providing context and content that inform future activities in social impact and advocacy.

To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • 5+ years in public health policy;
  • An ability to interpret complex business or government policies and explain them to others;
  • Strong experience in analysing data, understanding trends and interpreting statistics;
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills;
  • Sound technical capacity with information management systems;
  • A broad knowledge of public policy issues;
  • A knowledge of the discipline and practice of psychology.
