During tough economic times, the tendency of many organisations is to downsize their workforces and heap more responsibility on key management executives. On the face of it, this broad reaction to economic currents and choppy growth prospects – at least in the short-term – is understandable, albeit unfortunate and a real step backwards for many employers eager to gain market share.
